Thank you for reaching out. I understand that taking the first step towards counselling can be challenging, and I want to acknowledge the courage it may have taken for you to get here.
Choosing a counsellor is a personal decision. To make this easier for you, I offer a free 20-minute consultation to start the process of finding out what working with me might be like, check if we are a good fit, and get answers to questions you might have.
There is no obligation to continue after our initial chat.
My counselling approach is humanistic, which means I will work in a personalised, open, and collaborative way with you, focusing on understanding your inner world. I pay close attention to what is important to you and help you explore—and possibly shift—your relationship with some of the invisible barriers that might be holding you back.
Before we begin, there will be some admin to complete. I will send you a working agreement that outlines our responsibilities to each other, as well as an intake form where you can share your contact details and tell me more about the difficulties that have brought you to counselling. If you have questions at any stage, please do not hesitate to ask—I am here to help.
If you decide to go ahead with counselling, I will ask you to sign and return the contract, and payment will be due before we have our first session.
In our first session, I will try to fully understand where you are at and where you want to be. My priority is to build a trusting, warm, and open relationship where you feel completely free to share whatever is on your mind, at your pace, knowing that you will be fully accepted just as you are.
As we move forward, I will always be guided by you and what matters most to you. We will explore the challenges you are facing, identify your choices, and look at the emotions and patterns that come up for you, as well as the possible root causes behind them. I will support you in gaining new insights and greater self-awareness.
I work remotely – online and via telephone, so counselling can be performed from the comfort and convenience of your home. The privacy of your own home is especially beneficial when emotional highs and lows are experienced.
I look forward to getting to know you better and supporting you in whatever way I can.
Sessions can be one-off, short-term, long-term, or open-ended—there is no pressure to decide upfront.
I recommend a minimum of 6 sessions to see longer-term success, but it is up to you how long you want to continue counselling with me.
We can adjust the duration based on your needs and goals, allowing you the flexibility to determine what feels right for you as you navigate your journey.
Starting counselling can bring instant relief as you share what has been weighing on your mind.
In the days that follow, it is normal to experience heightened emotions as difficult feelings surface.
This is part of the healing process. Continuing counselling helps you work through these emotions, leading to deeper insights and lasting change so you can find balance once again.
As your counsellor, we will be building a relationship based on trust and confidentiality.
This will encourage you to speak freely during counselling where you will feel validated, heard and not judged.
However, if a topic arises involving a safeguarding concern, we will discuss the possibility that I will need to extend confidentiality to appropriate people.
