I’m Claire Banks, a BACP-registered counsellor with a first-class BSc degree in Psychology, and author of a 5* rated book about overcoming eating challenges (Just Call Me Fat: Jumping Off The Food Noise Merry-Go-Round).
Life can feel heavy, overwhelming, or just... too much at times.
It’s easy to feel like you’re carrying it all on your own, and that can be exhausting. With me, you don’t have to face it alone. This is a space where your feelings are met with understanding and compassion, where there’s no judgment, and where every session is guided by your story, your pace, and what feels right for you in the moment.

Together, we'll gently explore the feelings and patterns that might be keeping you stuck.
Little by little, you can start to understand yourself better, find ways to cope that actually feel doable, and notice the small shifts that make a real difference.
Many clients notice that after just a few sessions, they feel:
Even small steps can bring relief and hope, and each session is a space to acknowledge your experiences, celebrate progress, and keep moving at your pace.

It’s about having a caring, understanding partner by your side — someone who stays with you through the messy, confusing bits and helps you find a way towards a life that feels a little lighter, calmer, and more balanced.
I have been there myself, struggling with issues and needing support.
Alongside my professional training and years supporting people through grief and life’s challenges, I intuitively understand how experiences like loss, stress, and emotional struggles can shape the way we live — including our relationship with food, how we work, please others, set boundaries, or cope with perfectionism and avoidance.
Because I’ve faced these challenges personally, I bring not just knowledge, but real empathy and understanding. I can meet you where you are right now. Help you feel truly seen and support you in making changes that feel manageable, meaningful, and sustainable in your life.

Counselling isn’t just my profession—it's my passion. It is something I came to after navigating my own messy, very human experiences. I know how hard it can be to reach out for support, and I also know the relief and strength that comes from being truly heard. That’s what inspired me to retrain as a counsellor: to offer others the understanding space I once needed myself.
I bring both personal insight and professional expertise into every session. This means I meet you not just as a therapist, but as a human who understands that life isn’t always neat, predictable, or easy to explain. I’ve walked my own path through life’s harder seasons, and I use that experience to help you navigate yours with empathy, curiosity, and care.
I work with adults across the UK offering online counselling, providing flexible, accessible support wherever you feel most comfortable. Whatever struggles you are grappling with, or if you are simply feeling off-centre, I aim to help you feel heard, supported, and equipped with the tools to face life’s challenges with more clarity and confidence.
